Honda Corporate Headquarters and Research & Development Building

BWSC is providing architectural and engineering design services for two facilities at American Honda Motor Company’s Greensboro, North Carolina, location. The 68,134-SF three-story corporate headquarters building consists of offices, conference and meeting rooms, operations, and ancillary functions. The research and development building is one story with 187,380 square feet. It contains hangars for testing, research and display, as well as offices, meeting rooms, and ancillary functions. The office has been designed with a goal of achieving LEED Gold status.

Recycled materials are being used in the building’s design, such as concrete with fly ash, reclaimed asphalt, and recycled steel. Regionally-produced materials are being used wherever possible, as well as low-emitting adhesives, sealants, paints, and carpet. Energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems will reduce energy usage by more than 20%. Continuous monitoring of outside air delivered to each building zone and specialized filtration will improve indoor air quality. Water-efficient plumbing fixtures will reduce water usage by more than 40%.

Special parking will be provided for fuel-efficient vehicles, vanpools, and high occupancy vehicles. Bicycle parking areas will also be provided with changing rooms available in the building for cyclists. Water-efficient landscaping utilizing native species will be used on the site.
