Child Development Centers – United States Army
Various Locations
The army’s mission for their child development centers is to create an environment that is nurturing, loving, secure, healthy, and positive. BWSC designed six child development centers (CDC) to help achieve these goals, serving on a design/build team under a Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC). Three of these new facilities were at Ft. Campbell, KY; two at Ft. Bragg, NC; and one at Ft. Sill, OK. The $7.7 million facilities provide childcare for families of base service personnel. Each facility is designed for ages ranging from infants through 10-year-old children. The child capacity is approximately 230 for each facility, and each contains 22,000 square feet of administrative areas, a commercial kitchen, and activity areas appropriate for the different age groups. The projects involved site work, design, and construction of the facilities. In addition to the CDCs under the MATOC, BWSC was also selected to design CDCs for the U.S. Air Force, with two at Eglin Air Force Base and one at Tinker Air Force Base.
