Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge

Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge
Nashville, TN

The Shelby Street Bridge was one of Nashville’s most critical river crossings for 100 years before being closed to traffic in the 1990s due to safety concerns. The bridge was completely rehabilitated and partially reconstructed, and it has now returned to prominence as a beautiful pedestrian bridge. With its historic appeal and dramatic night lighting, it has become a signature feature along Nashville’s riverfront skyline. BWSC supported the lead firm by providing electrical and structural engineering for the lighting as well as architecture and engineering for the elevator at Nashville’s historic Second Avenue. The bridge won a top award in the Tennessee Excellence in Development competition.
