Knoxville/Knox County Animal Center
Knoxville, Tennessee

Fulfilling the needs of users who can’t speak for themselves offers a unique challenge in project planning. With the assistance of a nationally renowned animal facility consultant, BWSC designed a full veterinary and medical center with the objective to provide sheltering, medical treatment, kenneling, administration, education and animal control under one roof. In addition, the center includes cat colonies, “real-life” rooms for dogs, space for exotics as well as farm animals, and a community room. The facility encourages human/animal interaction and educates the public to learn more about animal care and welfare. A large part of the facility’s $3.7 million cost was funded by private donations.
