BWSC conducted a judicial and correctional needs assessment for Jefferson County’s jail and courts. This was achieved by compiling condition information and historical data, then formulating projections for the next twenty years.  The assessment informed the County of facility needs, such as jail size, to accommodate future projections. BWSC also provided architectural and engineering design for a new justice center and jail, which was completed in January 2007.  It includes three courtrooms and a 188-bed detention facility.
