Jim Downing, a native of Nashville, holds a Master of Science in environmental engineering and a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Tennessee. A licensed professional engineer in seven states, Jim was a principal and member of the Board of Directors for the EDGe Group (now AMEC) and EnSafe, Inc. (both top-500 engineering design firms) prior to joining BWSC. He is a recognized leader in the engineering consulting field with more than 30 years of experience in municipal and industrial environmental compliance, waste management, and remediation of contaminated sites. One of his most significant accomplishments was overseeing the site characterization and design of a remediation and land use improvement plan for 4400 acres of the North Potato Creek Watershed of the Copper Hill state superfund site in Ducktown, Tennessee.
