Nashville, TN – Chris A. Spann, PE, who has more than 25 years of aviation engineering experience, has joined BWSC, as Director of Aviation. Chris has worked on projects at major commercial, military, and general aviation airports throughout the United States and on international aviation projects in Egypt and Taiwan. Prior to joining BWSC, he was Associate Vice President and National Aviation Manager at PBS&J, Nashville, Tennessee.
Our firm has provided aviation services for many years, and the demand for our services is increasing. Chris has the experience and knowledge to direct the expansion of our national aviation program.

Chris’ most recent experience includes airfield design and rehabilitation projects in Tulsa, Atlanta, Chicago, and St. George, Utah. In St. George, he was the engineer-of-record responsible for the airside design of the $160 million green field airport, including a 9,300 runway and 2 parallel taxiways, designed to handle Boeing 737 and Airbus A-319 aircraft. His military experience includes work at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas; Lemoore Naval Air Station, California; and Shepard Air National Guard Base, West Virginia, in addition to six Egyptian Air Force Bases. During his career, Chris has worked on projects ranging from the design of city and county general aviation airports throughout the U.S. to the design and engineering of international airport facilities, infrastructure, runways, and taxiways.
Chris received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Kansas State University in 1984. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Kansas and Utah. Chris is a member of the American Association of Airport Executives, the Airport Consultants Council, and the Airports Council International of North America.
