As the market continues to advance toward more emphasis on sustainable design and efficiency, BWSC is responding by adding commissioning services to our portfolio of service offerings. In addition to joining the Associated Air Balance Council’s Commissioning Group (ACG), BWSC has two staff members who have passed the examination to become certified commissioning agents. Mechanical engineers Doug Law, PE, LEED AP, and Pat Tichenor, PE, LEED AP, recently passed the ACG’s commissioning examination and are qualified for project work involving commissioning of facilities.
Building commissioning is an enhanced systematic verification process used to ensure that building systems perform as intended to meet the building owner’s operational requirements. It also prepares the building staff to effectively and efficiently maintain the facility for its service life. The federal government requires all energy-consuming systems in new buildings be commissioned. Further, any facility pursuing LEED certification must undergo either Fundamental or Enhanced Commissioning. |
