Pigeon Forge, TN — The City of Pigeon Forge has broken ground on the Wear Farm Park, designed by Barge Waggoner. The master plan and design of the 116-acre site were driven by the need to work around approximately seven acres of wetlands with as little impact as possible. Included in the design are five baseball and softball fields, a football field with bleachers, and concession and picnic areas. The park is a great addition for Pigeon Forge. With better facilities, city officials hope to host revenue-generating, weekend-long youth athletic events. The size of the baseball fields will make Pigeon Forge an option for hosting larger tournaments from the region, in turn bringing in more tourism revenue for the area.

The master plan is broken up into two phases. The first phase will encompass the new facilities on approximately 40 acres. The intent of the second phase of work is to preserve the natural beauty of the remaining 76 acres, which will include walking and hiking trails designed to make area views of the outdoors and surrounding mountains more accessible. Construction of Phase one is expected to be completed by March 2013.
